what if a payment needs to be refunded?
Open Banking Payments (OBPs) can't be reversed the way a credit or debit card transaction can — this is the same as an EFTPOS cheque or savings account payment, or a Bill Payee payment in your banking app. if you need to make a refund, you'll need to manually do this via your bank, e.g. setup the buyer as a one-off bill payee.
which banks are supported?
open banking is fully supported by ANZ, ASB, BNZ, Westpac, and Kiwibank — this is regulated under the Customer and Product Data Act 2025.
what does it cost to join?
signing up is free. to connect your bank account to receive payments costs just $2. then each payment is a lean fixed fee of only 30 cents per payment. we never charge a % of the payment amount.
do I need any new equipment?
no — just a phone or tablet to show your QR code. each payment request generates its own unique QR code.
what if my customer loses their receipt?
every payment gets a reference that will show on their transaction details, which they can find in their banking app or statement — they can look it up again anytime at breeze-pay.app/receipt using the reference.
